| 8\10 | Ahhh. finally read that love story everybody thinks is the best piece of literature. I honestly liked it. it was well written and gripping but not half as good as the books I consider deserve the best book in the world award. honestly a good read but the commentry was boring.

Forever wishing goodreads did half stars, bc I'd like to give this three and a half stars. Putting aside the lack of common sense and logic in the story of two barely-teenagers falling in love and dying for it, this just isn't Shakespeare's best work. The notion of dying for love is romantic and tragic, and this specific instance of it just falls a little flat. Also, Shakespeare was the KING of innuendo lmao

since i’ve never liked the movie of romeo and juliet i had hoped to never read the actual play. now, i have to admit: shakespeare’s romeo and juliet is wonderful!
and why is shakespeare so hilarious i cannot

Not my favourite, but it’s absolutely well done.
I enjoy the idea of Juliet’s instant love for Romeo as a symbol of her desire for independence rather than love for the man himself.
