i've been obsessed with tillie walden for a while now and i finally managed to get ahold of this tiny little book. it's very quick (which means i can definitely reread it regularly) but i absolutely love the concept and art behind it. i think it's incredibly poignant for something so small. i really loved how it reflects on the idea of creating a world inside you to kind of...cope with things. i'm the type of person who tends to isolate herself so i've been creating my own worlds for decades now. and even though this book is short and quick and "easy" to digest in some ways, i like the idea that i can revisit it. it felt so comforting and i know i'll be picking up more of tillie's book as the years go on.

It was a really short book about love, a life with loved ones, and an adventurous soul.

My laptop is currently unavailable so I am typing this on my phone. I am already irritated so this is going splendid.

I think I already bored everyone here with how well Walden draws and colors and how her dialogue is great.

In this little and short graphic novel, she talks about going and finding your own path but ultimately sacrificing it for someone you love. I managed to relate to the main character but somehow the ending wasn't really satisfying to me.

The language is more lyrical than the previous novels I read by Tillie.

Another difference is that the drawings are a bit more simplistic.

I just didn't like this as much as I thought I would and that's that. I still love Tillie and will read her future work, as for this one - nothing special in the end.

Yeah, I definitely couldn't stay away from Tillie Walden and her work. RTC.

I cannot recommend this strongly enough. As a lost-feeling 20 something, this resonated so deeply with me I feel so soothed and at the same time cracked all the fucking way open by 56 pages of magic (LITERALLY! Because there’s magical realism in it and I did not expect that and magical realism is my FAVORITE kind of art!!!) what a strong start to the year UGH

It was an oddly warm feeling to read this one. In such a short amount, Walden was able to capture the feelings that were meant to be given in the book very well. Lovely.

(update on the second reading) It felt a lot more personal than it did the first time around. This is, by all means, beautiful.
