2 stars because tjr gave me tshoeh and i will be forever grateful for that. other than that, what a shitty book my GOD. first of all it’s definitely not detailed enough to make a decision which man is a better fit for sure BUT f*ck sam. f*ck him!!!!! his loser f*cking ass does not deserve emma. but emma doesn’t deserve jesse too. ah jesse, my man… i’m so sorry you had to fall for someone who’d give up on you just after 2 years. AND WITHOUT EVEN LOOKING FOR YOU. that’s what pissed me off the most. if my spouse, the person i’ve been with 8 years, was lost then i’d do everything in my power to find them. emma didn’t even f*cking try!!!!!!! while jesse was trying to get back to her, she was screwing a loser who had a crush on her in hs. those two f*cking assholes deserve each other, they can rot in their little town with their loser boring life as my man can travel the world with his hot surfer gf. this book wouldve sorta made sense if emma moved on after 10-15 years but 2 years? just 2? they were together for 8 years when jesse disappeared and it took you only two years to forget him?????!?! f*ck emma. i truly hope the movie changes the ending because this was bullf*ckingsh*t

3.5 stars. I almost cried, felt the need to throw the book against a wall in anger, wanted to DNF, but pushed through and agreed with her choice in the end. Even after the rollercoaster that this story was I read it in a matter of hours

This was such a cute story! I appreciate that it was a romance but more grounded and realistic than romance books often are. And I finished it on the day that the movie for it came out. Who knew!

Oh, the emotional agony. The agony! This is as heartbreaking as it sounds. But it's also written in a way that sucks you in to the story because you cannot help but feel empathetic and sympathetic. And then bam: emotions. All the feels in the world!!!!!

Ok so this is yet another book I’m very conflicted about. Once again, it had a strong start and a strong ending. I liked that Emma chose Sam in the end and the overall message it conveyed ab her growing up and being in a different place than she was with Jesse. However, I think I’m disappointed bc I’ve read so many other TJR books and found them sm more captivating. Compared to her other ones, this one felt kinda poorly written and the characters lacked depth/chemistry imo. I’m probably reading too much into it tho - overall it was good, but not very memorable

I read this book in about 2 days if even lol it was so good. I just wanted to keep reading and not put it down. I loved the plot and the characters and Emma’s development over the story. I also really liked the ending. It would be kinda interesting if the author wrote a little spin off for other characters too :)) I would definitely reread!!

i really enjoyed this book. the one thing that i would change is the pacing. it was a super fast book with not a lot of pages. i wish it went more into detail of the bigger concepts of the book and had like 100-150 more pages so i could truly feel the trauma the characters were experiencing and feel the emotional damage. don’t get it twisted i still cried.

taylor jenkins reid is truly evil for what she puts her characters through but i eat it up every time. these characters can never catch a break. they have enough trauma in a 300 page book to last 3 lifetimes.
