Being in a haunted house is the least difficult thing this woman has been through. I love that we come in 4 years into her living in this house. She's frustrating at times, but she's a whole ass character.

This book was simultaneously more funny and emotional than I thought it would be. Margaret is such a wonderful main character and I really enjoyed experiencing a haunted house through the eyes of someone who simply refuses to leave. It starts out with some grim humor regarding the hauntings in her house (that start really kicking up in September) and then the humor is slowly replaced with more horror regarding the house and Margaret's past.
This book parallels her own relationship with her abusive husband with that of her ability to put up with the house and it the revelation of how each parallels the other unfolds so well

Technically this was my first horror novel and Carissa Orlando did not disappoint!! This was a surreal experience. It was hard to put down this book cause all I kept thinking was what's going to happen now!!.

The genre is horror, dark comedy, mystery-thriller, psychological thriller (which is my favorite genre), there's domestic/familial element all rolled into one. So, I was laughing and in the next second I'd be scared.

Also, the book isn't just about the hauntings of the house and its past, but we get so much more.

There are good twists and turns and I love the way the book is written. The past and the present, ughhhh!!! If i could give this book 6 out of 5 stars, I would.

I'm excited to read more from this author not only because this book was magnificient but also because she's a clinical psychologist which is what I'm studying to become.

The first 150 pages or so of this book I found to be pretty slow, and was disappointed, thinking I wouldn't end up liking this book I had been excited to read. I was also initially bummed when they started drawing comparisons between the main character's past to what was happening in her current house.

Luckily, about halfway through, this book picks up steam and gets pretty interesting. As much as I didn't want to like the direction the book was going, the author's storytelling just kept convincing me she knew what she was doing, and she won me over.

I really appreciate the twist this book DIDN'T take at the end, because I think the direction it could have taken is so overused, and I'm glad we got to enjoy the story as it played out.
