Overall I really enjoyed the story. The audiobook really hurt my experience though. The pacing was off and I couldn't find a speed at which the narrators pacing made sense(I normally listen to books at 1.25/1.3, tried slowing it down and speeding it up and nothing worked). Also the tone at which she was reading reminded me of an ASMR video. Everything was said in sort of a calming low tone and there wasn't much variation for the characters expressing different emotions. Scenes where characters are arguing with each other sound the same as when a character is walking down a hallway. Other than my issues with the audiobook I would've rated it 4, I did enjoy the story as a whole. I would recommend either reading the physical or e-book as the audiobook took away some enjoyment for me personally.

tw: self harm, depression, anxiety, racism, mentions of a past suicide attempt, there might be more but i can't remember
i really loved this book! it was easy to read and it was overall a lovely and thought provoking story. also, as a teenager who is constantly being told to figure everything out, it was really calming and refreshing to see the reality of an adult figuring stuff out.

lighthearted
More found-family, self-discovery, healing familial trauma than the I-married-an-unknown-cute-girl-in-vegas romcom I thought this was going to be, I think the book rec lists mislead me 😅

had lower expectations for this. it was kinda cringe at times but i don’t like romance so. loved how focused it was on academia and expectations, it really resonated with me. cute found family
this is a story that really resonated with me, something i think i needed to hear right around now. i didn’t even really know what this book was about when i picked it up, but im so glad i did. this is a story about loneliness, its about the monster inside all of us & how we deal with it, its about losing yourself, accepting the loss, and coming back to save yourself. this is a story about accidental mess ups that turn out to be the thing that saves us, and its about family, and growing up. the space we take up and how scary it can feel. it really was a beautiful book and im so grateful i decided to pick it up! i think many people in their twenties could benefit from hearing what morgan rogers has to say about others expectations over us, and the harsh reality that is finding & getting to know yourself over and over again.
