i got this book from a blind date with a book order so i didn’t really have any expectations but i loved the concept and i enjoyed reading the book! i will agree that the protagonist’s name is said over and over and you kind of come to hate it after a while, but that’s really the only gripe i have regarding this book. i think it’s perfect for its genre and may we see more like it.

Don’t even know what to say. So annoying, characters lacked depth, constant repetition of astronomy/loneliness metaphors.

this could’ve been so much better and that makes me so sad.

not a fan. this read exactly like some subpar fanfiction. i wouldn’t be surprised in the slightest if this was originally a modern au for some tv show or book. some fics can get away with that because it’s really ooc and the au is so intense. this one? not so much. it has all the insufferable traits of some tumblr emby named ash (kai is also an option). the feel of this completely unrealistic found family trope is just so tumblr, it’s sickening. no one lives like this. [clapping] no one lives like this!! it’s just some loser ~alphabet squad~ 16 year’s fantasy with their tumblr friends they’ll never actually meet. can’t tell you how many times i have been offered a similar life and it’s never happened and we all knew that deep down cuz, once a again, no one lives like this!!!! it’s just fricking sad tbh. further things that point to tumblr is the presence of bpd. i won’t say anything further.

lastly, this fic (not book) was a poorly disguised self insert. look at the author and tell me the main character isn’t a glorified version of her. like lmao are you kidding me? half white half black lesbian girl with gold hair… mhmm……. i see.

only reason why this is getting 2 stars is cuz sometimes the writing was pretty.

I love this book so much it hurts. I read it in one sitting, there was not one second of it that I did not love. Every character was so wonderful. Every relationship was so well thought out. The mental health rep, the diverse cast of characters, the beautiful queerness? Incredible. This is 1000% a new favorite book.
