Honestly did not know this was a sequel until I finished the book. That being said, you don't really need to read the first one to understand this one. However, it might help just a smidgen. The book was okay, a bit long winded in the beginning for my taste, but I did enjoy the ending.

This is my first foray into Ruth Ware, and it was pretty good.
I will say the first half of the book for me was very slow. It took me forever to become invested enough to really care about what was happening in the book. I believe wholeheartedly if I read the book before this in the series, I would’ve been a lot more intrigued, but I had not.
The plot was honestly pretty straightforward for a thriller, and I saw several of the twists coming before they happened. The “how” was a bit far fetched for me as well. I liked the premise, but the execution was a bit off for me personally.
The characters… I like Lo, but she made some really dumb decisions. And I want to know more about why it was such a big deal that Ben and Cole were involved in the investigation briefly, and then are never mentioned again. Carrie is absolutely a wild card, and I suspected the ending before I knew. Not my favorite cast, but the bad guys were sufficiently bad, and the good guys just kept trying to be too good for their own good.
The writing is easy enough to follow, but it is told in a British voice. Single POV, told from Lo’s POV for the entirety of the book. I don’t mind single POV’s, but I do prefer the complexity and ambiguity of multiple POVs. It does make for a very linear story, one that doesn’t veer off track much.
All in all, I don’t regret reading it, but it certainly didn’t wow me the way I was hoping. I’ll probably pick up another of her books, but I won’t be clambering to get it like some people led me to believe.

I loved the Woman in Cabin 10, so I was excited to read this book as it’s a sequel. But there was such a long gap between the books, I didn’t remember the specifics from the first book. Even after reading a summary of I’d, I didn’t find myself very connected to these returning characters and the plot felt very dependent on remembering the first book.

I enjoyed following up with Lo ten years later. I loved hearing about the ten years in between books and enjoyed the new mystery. There was too much language for my taste--surely there is more than one word that characters can use when frustrated, scared, and angry

Its beeen 10 years from when Lo Blacklock was on the Aurora and the mystery of 'The Woman in Cabin 10'. Now Lo is married to Judah with two children living in America. Wanting to get back into travel writing she gets an out of the blue invite to a hotel in Switzerland for a press opening. However some of the passengers from the Aurora are there also.
I read The Woman in Cabin 10 when it came out and enjoyed it. This was back in the day when I used to look forward to books by Ruth Ware. After the first few books I did fall out of love with Ruth Ware but did want to give this book ago.
I really did not enjoy this book at all. The plot was ok to a certain point but in another sense quite ridiculous. The character of Lo just does not learn. She goes from one situation to another in a tedious murder mystery.
Sometimes a good book does not need a follow up and for me this is the case with this one. I used to enjoy books by Ruth Ware but I think for now I'm done.
