This was an interesting read.
While I did enjoy the underlying plot of the book, I was shocked and a bit disappointed in the ending as I didn’t see it coming nor that character being the cause which felt a bit betraying.

Overall the way in which this book was romance was just too overly sexual for me and I wasn’t a fan of the openly detailed scenes, as they felt a bit too much and wattpad-esque.

I guess it’s a good rec for those who like dark romance but it’s not for me at all.

Ugh, I didn’t have very high hopes of me liking this book even though it‘s by the great Elle Kennedy and unfortunately I was right about that.  Maybe it was the multiple POVs which made it hard at first to follow the story (I mean why was Lawson‘s POV and storyline even in there? Only because sex sells, I guess.) Maybe it was the characters and their more or less worked out personalities (I mean sorry but no one had a really unique personality trait other than all of them having major daddy issues.) I feel like the only person I really liked and cared about was Casey. Conveniently, the book ends with a cliffhanger on her story and her accident. Maybe Elle Kennedy already knew this wasn’t her best work and she just had to end it that way hence people would buy the second book of the series. Another thing that really disturbed and kinda put me off where the „fights“. Wtf, uncivilised and not sexy, sorry not sorry.

I‘m really disappointed tbh. I guess her college-set stories are either more my cup of tea or just simply better written.

Angsty and gritty and emotional. Enjoyed this a lot. These kids need Therapy™️ and maybe a set of better parents lmao

The best bits:
  • Kennedy does bromance so good, and this book def has that aspect I know and love from her other books.  Each guy is complex and complicated, but they’re all fearlessly loyal to one another. The banter is also 15/10 (warning for strong language tho, which for me just made it funnier)
  • Each character is fleshed out and actually interesting to read and slowly learn about. The different POVs were actually fun to read. Sometimes they frustrate you since it’s not about the main couple, but in this book I found myself looking forward to the story of each character equally. And they’re all super hot which helps too ig
  • The mystery element was surprising but done well, it’s not your average prep school forbidden romance, so that def spiced up the plot quite a bit.
  • Lawson was probably my favourite character just cos I don’t know if I want to be him or be with him. I also just want to give him a hug. His entire role in the book was just pure chaotic energy with that good good tragic backstory to match. ‘Twas a WILD ride and the most unpredictable of all the story lines.
