Cute! I don’t typically enjoy books about teenagers and I almost DNF-ed it at the beginning but I ended up enjoying it. Definitely takes a minute to get into the story/warm up to the main character, but her voice is fun and the characters all feel very human.

I love high fantasy but get really annoyed when authors build bigotry into the world (like you can write about dragons but people are still sexist/homophobic? Lack of imagination, tbh) so I enjoyed the casual representation here!

I felt like this was a good standalone story but I might pick up the sequel eventually to revisit the world/characters bc they’re so fun.

Good, solid worldbuilding alongside character development. From the first page, you know exactly who the main character is and why she does the things she does. Sometimes heavy on the symbolism, but I cannot fault the pacing, the twists, the characters, the romance and friendships that seemingly blossom naturally. Nothing in this story feels forced. Poldi and Ragne honestly have my whole heard, and Barthl is on track to be up there as one of my favourites if he appears in the next book. It was genuinely such a delight to read, but it was also so genuinely heartbreaking at the same time.

This book lived up to my expectations. I had a wonderful time reading it. The characters were well-developed and I liked the various relationships. I liked the relationship between Vanja and Emeric. The worldbuilding was good. The plot was a little predictable, there were a few twists that I didn't see, and the writing style was good.

“Little thieves steal gold, and great ones steal Kingdoms, but only one goes to the gallows.”

Easily 5 stars. Officially my favorite book. Vanja I will defend you WITH MY LIFE. If Vanja has no supports I AM DECEASED. The queerness is this world is so incredibly beautiful, words cannot describe how seen these romances make me feel. Vanja’s hurt is so heartbreaking but her strength and character development is such a heartwarming experience.

Would suggest for Fantasy fans that enjoyed books like Six of Crows or Once Upon a Broken Heart. That complex heist feel with a sprinkle of romance and magic. Our main character wears many different names and with them accomplishes many cunning tasks. She has been taken care of by Death and Fortune, but they aren't ready to claim her as "daughter". She doesn't want to become their servant instead and seeks a way to escape from the kingdom out of their grasp, but living costs money and she needs a start up fund. What's worse, hanging for being caught as a thief or living a life as the servant to a minor god.

I wish I could express in words how much I love this book!

The plot of Little thieves is intricate and amazingly well thought of, it perhaps takes a bit to take off but when it does it’s just an explosion of things happening at the perfect pace. The plot is interesting but don’t think that takes away from the characters! It is also sooo character driven and I loved the characters. Could the villain have been fleshed out a bit more? Maybe but it wasn’t too much of a problem for me.

Vanja - our MC is amazing and broken (and definitely morally grey), she grows so much throughout the book - I got so attached to her that I was crying when she cried or something happened to her… her backstory :( is told in a fairytale style way and it is so compelling.

Our ML (male lead) who I won’t spoil is amazing, he is probably the best one i’ve read, my standards literally cannot even be measured and my heart breaks knowing there’s probably no one like him.

Anyways - read this right now!!!! I’m in love.
