Persuasion has the makings of a classic novel, but Austen often relies on a “tell, don’t show” style that feels clunky and weighs down the livelier, more in-the-moment scenes.

It's a bit dull and the pace is too slow for me. However, how Jane Austen crafted Anne's character and the other female characters are so well and I love and appreciate the descriptions and mentioning of many aspects of everyday life. It's not that dramatic and is more real. Truthfully the ending more made up for it.

I joined a book club and this is the February book. Can I put down the sci-fi/fantasy stuff I've been craving and read it?

...I understand the point of this book, in its time and now, but...He loves me, he loves me not, he loves me, he loves me not, blahh blah blah.
