This was nice! I love the art style, it's super vibrant and colorful. I didn't get a full sense of who the characters are so I wasn't super invested, but it was still enjoyable, and I'm definitely gonna read the next volume.

content warnings: violence, injuries
representation: asian-american main character, main interracial relationship, black side character, side characters of colour

This was real good, guys. I have literally no interest in roller derby (or sport in general), but I do have a lot of interest in girls being friends and supporting each other, as well as girls having conflict with one another that revolves around themselves, not boys.

The characters in this were so fun and I loved all their dynamics. There was romance (not between girls, unfortunately), and friendship, and friendly rivalries, and not-so-friendly rivalries, and I loved all of it. I also loved that all the girls who do roller derby are super athletic, as would be expected, but they also come in different shapes and sizes.

There really isn't much more to say except that the art style was cute and I'm excited to continue!

A story set in the brutal world of punk Roller Derby. We have 2 new freshies or fresh meat that try out for the team and their life is slowly changed by the ruff and rumble world of roller derby. They make sister and friends and find who they are in this world. They get tough and learn to enjoy their bruises.

I loved the movie “whip it” when it came out. I own that movie and have watched it many times. That story had more focus on the main character and this is a good story, but ‘Whip It’ is far better. I still enjoy this colorful take on the genre and we can always use more roller derby. I’m much to soft for this world, but I like being an observer to it. Tough girls are awesome. I’ll be back for more of this.

I thought this was a lot of fun. I've never read about roller derby before and so I loved that element, as well as the portrayal of friendships, including the ups and downs. I am excited to read the next (and last?) volume in this series to see what happens next.

So much fun! This is one of those cases where you can judge a book by its cover. I saw it at the library, and the cover was so fantastic, I knew the book would be good. And it was fantastic - with a fantastic (female) creative team. I‰ЫЄve only really been to one roller derby match, but I feel like this gets into derby culture pretty well. Check it out.

Had a blast reading this!
Fun look at counter culture life of derby girls, from fresh meat to bout contenders. A story about two girls trying to stay friends through training, getting picked for different teams, and jealousy!

Great to read a story I can relate to, and see all my weirdo female friends in!
