Loved the art style it was so fun and eccentric.
The story was so sweet. The characters were so charming and cute.

I do love roller derby, but it’s funny because I accidentally bought the second volume first. So I bought the first one and I actually really enjoyed it! It’s a little everywhere, but it’s nice to have a graphic novel centered on young adult women that focuses on their friendship and a common interest/hobby. I’ll be reading the next volume, but I don’t think I’ll keep this one in my permanent library. I’ll give it to a friend and share the love :)

I love love love the art in this, and if it had been a complete graphic novel, it would be about a 9.5/10 for me. I want to meet Jennifer in real life and go cheer at all her matches and quietly crush on her, dammit. I want to swoon over Maisie's budding romance.

As it is, though, it's a very fast spin through friendship and fallouts and, of course, roller derby. We pretty much see Jennifer and Maisie meet, and see them as best friends, and see them unable to sustain their friendship because they're on different teams...but we don't see any of the in-between bits that take them to those points. I guess this is par for the course for the format, but I would have been head over heels (head over skates?) for a slightly slowed-down version of this. That said, I am very much looking forward to [b:SLAM!: The Next Jam|38493463|SLAM! The Next Jam|Pamela Ribon|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1518465710s/38493463.jpg|60133103]. I'll read the hell out of this series.

I was super excited about this one but it was a bit of a let down.
I liked the idea of it was the execution was just too choppy.
Overall it was a bit of a mess and all over the place.

I don’t really read graphic novels a lot as I am picky with art styles but this attracted me. Graphic novels are as well, difficult for me to connect to the characters compared to as books but it was enjoyable. The roller derby lifestyles were intriguing but to be honest, there is nothing else for me to say for the first volume. The characters seem nice but I need more time with them. I would try to read the others if I remember to. I want to know where the story goes.

Full review at Little Book Jockey. I loved this. It made me want to get into roller derby, even though the only time I’ve ever skated I had to hold onto someone’s shirt and still fell down a lot. And that was probably 10 years ago.

Qué lástima que soy una inútil patinando, porque este cómic hace aumentar las ganas de ponerse a practicar este deporte.
Aparte de eso, es una buena historia de amistad, compañerismo y rivalidad. Ganas de seguir!
