A swing and a miss. I was hoping for more in this, but it really drug out for me and felt very convenient at times. Additionally, this book's description does not lend to the fact it is mostly romance very well, which is unfortunate as I was more hopeful for the non-romance aspects of it.

I received an ecopy of this book through Netgalley; however, my opinions are my own

Recipe for a Charmed Life by Rachel Linden is the perfect read for all the foodies out there as well as readers who enjoy a story about family with a dash of magical realism. I loved that the majority of this story is set on San Juan Island in the PNW because it is a place I am familiar with. As soon as I saw those words and Friday Harbor, I knew I would love that part of the book for sure. Linden did an excellent job bringing the sights, smells, and tastes in the storyline to life, and so many of her food descriptions are absolutely mouthwatering. Besides the family part of the novel, there is also romance as well. Georgia is immediately attracted to and intrigued by her mom's neighbor (Cole), and there is a spark that ignites into more.

The audiobook is narrated by Traci Odom, and I thought she was a great person to be the voice of both the book and Georgia's character. She was both easy and pleasant to listen to, and I fully enjoyed the way she voiced the story and the emotion she brought to her narration as well. Recipe for a Charmed Life had all the fixings to be the type of book I absolutely loved, but for some reason did fall a bit short for me. I would have enjoyed having the family legacy part of the plot be more front and center, and it seemed like more of a thing that was just there as opposed to being a main focus. I also didn't fully believe the romance between Georgia and Cole. Overall, this was a very solid read though, and it is a food lover's dream!
