This should have been a homerun for me, but it didn't hit the way I had hoped. It felt too sweet and not fleshed out well enough (maybe it was my mood?)

“Faith, hope, love and luck… those four elements are the recipe for a charmed life “

✨Fun fact✨: if I have another baby girl, I plan to name her Charm.

Georgia Mae had a dream of being the head chef of a new Parisian restaurant, and right when it’s time to claim her goal, she wastes it away with an embarrassingly public spat with her boo and serving up a horrible meal, shedding bad light upon her restaurant.

In timely fashion, she receives an email from her long lost mother asking her to come visit her in the pacific NW. With no job or sense of taste, this is prime time to take a break.
She connects with her estranged mother, finds solace in the coastal Northwestern island and begins to piece together some missing pieces of her life; and she finds an added little love story of her own.

This was such a sweet story! I really liked it!

I love the message of finding your roots and getting back to what brings you passion and lights and a spark inside of you.

This was a really sweet story; I enjoyed all of  the characters, backstories, delicious recipes and the beautiful setting in the coastal town. I love how Georgia opened herself up to change, and forging new relationships and opportunities! Great read and would definitely recommend for a light read!!

Would make a great Hallmark movie.  Takes place in Paris and mostly on San Juan Island.

Very sweet magical realism novel

While I did adore the magical realism of this book and will continue to read Linden's books due to this. I loved both settings and the descriptions of food. Georgia trying to find herself and her fire and creativity I hope I can find that for myself again. Now the problematic areas were the fact that an old addict may still be using pot (although never clarified) as a child who grew up with a step parent with addiction, being sober means no substances. There were also parts that felt way too preachy.
