truly going to miss this book. finishing the last page made me feel like i was saying goodbye to two friends, now even more connected to people who helped shape this little queer baby.

As someone who grew up listening to Tegan & Sara in high school and didn’t understand my sexuality until later in life, this very tender memoir hit home.
The audiobook especially brought it home with their alternating narration, early recordings, interview with the authors and other clips.
It is a book about high school. It is a book about music, about family, about self discovery, and about that which inspired the music behind these twin sisters.
Absolutely lovely

I have been a fan of Tegan and Sara for years. Learning about their High School adolescent was very interesting and eye opening. The bond they have is strong but just like any sibling especially sisters, fighting and being at each other's throats is unavoidable. The fact that during their challenges they could still create music demonstrates their common love for music.

With intimacy, Sara and Tegan reflect affirmations of queer youth with gut-punching accuracy that places you right amongst themselves and their peers.
High School (the memoir) is the perfect prescription for becoming; of disarray and naivety, of savoured possibility.

As a fan of memoirs and everything 90s, wow, as a parent, oh my God, I still need to worry about acid?!

I think this book is only for super fans who can patiently sit through every little detail of your average rural white queer kid's school experience. I should have expected, given the title, that this book would really be about high school. People of all ages deserve respect and can have a more nuanced understanding of the world than many adults realize (they did drive that point home a few times), addiction sucks, being queer in the middle of nowhere sucks, and breaking into the music scene at a young age as self-taught musicians is really an amazing thing, but there just wasn't anything new or groundbreaking or exciting for me in this book. Could have been edited down a lot. Just didn't enjoy it at all. As an apparently moderate fan, this book really dragged for me.

Great audiobook listen. Includes old tapes of their first songs and a great story.
