I wish I had this book growing up, it definitely reads as a Young Adult novel but I was hooked. Sadly I think so many girls can relate to the events occurring in the book, without having the support the Moxie girls created for each other. I was transported to my high school days and it evoked nostalgia and has inspired me to bring my fight in the present day.

i saw the netflix trailer and got really excited for the movie. i went down to the comments and when i found out it was a book i immediately started reading an e-book of it. i never wanted to put this book down and was very disappointed when i had to stop for class. i can’t remember feeling this intentional, specific anger from a book since i read the hate u give and that’s saying A LOT. it was a great read start to finish and i’m really excited for the movie adaptation coming out in march. seeing as amy poehler read the book i’m hoping she doesn’t diverge from the plot too much.

This book is sweet! It's definitely geared towards readers with absolutely no prior knowledge of the topic at hand (riot grrrl feminism), but it gives just enough background for the reader to understand within the context of the story and be able to do more research later.
Only two minor characters were sapphic (girls attracted to girls), and there were no trans girls, which would have been nice to see in a story about adapting 90s-style feminism to the present day
I think slightly more could have been done to address the topic of race, but I appreciate how the white main character recognized her own limited experience without having it spoonfed to her, and the characters of color got to exist without being shoehorned into educator roles (I'm describing what should be a low bar but this book still gets props for clearing it).
