Cocky Carpenter is a romance set in the land down under. It has connections to two different cocky heroes. Look for a double dose of cocky cameos.

While there's an all star cast of cocky heroes, I wasn't really feeling this cocky hero. Autumn and Brett weren't real to me. I had no connections to them and frankly their connection to each other felt like a stretch.

However, this carpenter was definitely cocky in his own way.

Maybe ghosting this series for a while helped me realize that not every book is a gem? Or maybe it's because I had a crap ton of meetings today.. and I was just in a mood.

Cocky Carpenter was an okay read. In it, you will meet Autumn and Brett. In the beginning, I felt bad for Autumn. Why? Well, she left her home and went to Australia for a year. A rash and sudden decision.. but not the reason as to why I felt sad. Nope, her ex-husband and a stalker did.

That being said, when she ended up meeting Brett - I had hope things were going to get a lot better. It also doesn't hurt that they had crazy sexual chemistry and tension either. Even if how they met was a bit awkward.

Maybe the next book in this series will be better.

Cocky Carpenter by Maggie Mundy is part of the Cocky Hero World. Each individual story can be read as a stand-alone novel and read in any order.
I often went from 3 to 4 star ratings, the beginning was great. It was funny, witty and grabbed your attention quickly. As the story progressed, I found myself getting bored and losing interest in the story, their growing affections and everything in between. It just seemed too normal, to perfect and other than the two looming issues, all was well. It picked up some in the end, but there were a lot of parts in between that left me unattached.

I did enjoy the lovely descriptions of life in Australia. The author painted a beautiful picturesque scene with beautiful homes and a great place to escape for a while.
Overall, I do recommend this novel. If anything for a quick trip to Australia.

Enjoy!

Suspenseful Romance Is Feast For the Senses

4.5/5 Stars

What you need to know about Cocky Carpenter:
✔ Setting in Australia’s Blue Mountains
✔ A touch of suspense to this romance
✔ Complete stand-alone
✔ Beautiful British Doctor heroine
✔ Hot Aussie Carpenter hero
✔ If you loved British Bedmate by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward, you will get to see more of Simon and Brigid and also Chance and Aubrey from Cocky Bastard!

Maggie Mundy is a new author to me as are a lot of the Cocky Hero authors. I really enjoyed reading “Cocky Carpenter” so I’ll be looking for more of her books. “Cocky Carpenter” is a great mix of romance and suspense without being strictly what I would call a romantic suspense novel. It just had that extra dash of spice to get you on the edge of your seat without it being all about the suspense. One of the real stars in this book is the backdrop; the descriptions of the Blue Mountains are really wonderful if not a wee bit scary (Australia is a little scary, okay?)!

The absolute star of this book is Brett and Autumn’s relationship from their first meeting (Brett’s STD check-up), their second meeting (Brett’s rescue of naked Autumn in the tub) to their glow worm expedition and let’s just say every interaction these two have. They are fantastic. I love that Brett is not the “typical” Aussie bloke that a lot of romances might portray, he’s sensitive and compassionate to Autumn. Autumn has suffered some setbacks in her life but she’s tough but vulnerable and open.

I didn’t even mind the third person narration as you get in both their heads. I loved seeing both couples from “British Bedmate” and “Cocky Bastard”. I loved Bluey and Dorothy. I loved that Maggie Mundy trusted the reader with the language. Kudos for this great addition to the Cocky Hero Club.

WRITING STYLE: 5/5
PLOT: 4/5
WORLD-BUILDING: 4/5
CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT: 4/5
ROMANCE: 4/5
HEAT: 4/5

Many thanks to Give Me Books Promotions, the Cocky Hero Club, and Maggie Mundy for an ARC in exchange for an honest book review of “Cocky Carpenter”. My thoughts and opinions are 100% my own and independent of receiving an advance copy.

Autumn needed a fresh start, her new location had everything she needed, including a hot landlord who lived next door!

The relationship between Autumn and Brett was fun to witness. The author did a great job painting the picture of Australia, and the budding romance.

With some drama, suspense and steam this story will not let you down!

Cocky Carpenter by Maggie Mundy is a new Contemporary romance addition to the Cocky Hero Club series of books.

Unfortunately, I did not gel with this book or the writing style. I felt the characters were a little flat and lacked emotion and therefore I didn’t have an emotional connection to the story.

The story did have some good points and bones but lacked on the execution for me. Brett and Autumn were interesting characters and could have been great.

It is not very often that I come across books in which one of the main characters has a disability. Yet, this is the second that I have read in the Hero Club World and it blew me away! When Autumn decided that she needed a change a scenery to reset her life after divorce, the accident that took her foot, and a stalker, traveling from England to Australia seemed like a piece of cake! Brett’s got some of his own troubles to unpack. These two meeting was meant to be. She didn’t let her disability define her nor did he see it as a roadblock. The met at the time in their lives when they were both ready to heal and begin truly living. The author weaved a wonderful tale of love.

I received an advance copy of this book at my request and voluntarily left this review.

The author has written a note to her readers about this book that you will need to pay attention to.

Autumn may have physical challenges but that doesn’t stop her from what she loves. She’s come to realize that she needs to spread her wings. Brett may be cocky but at least he cares about his health. And he’s proud about the work he does. He’s also opened his heart to possibilities.

This is a book where you will laugh with the characters as well as at them. They also both seem to like the outdoors as well as taking a chance on having an adventure. It’s a story about getting out of your comfort zone in order to experience the world around us and doing things you probably would never do. We also have two characters that can feel there’s a connection growing but what will they do about it.

Our author does a great job at showing that people are not different just because they have a disability. They eat like we do; they hold down jobs like we do, and they want some of the same things we do too. She gives me the chance to experience some of what Australia has to offer without leaving the comfort of my living room. It was a quick read which you can finish in just a few hours to a few days depending on how your schedule for the day goes. If you are like me and have not read any works by this author than you just may have found someone new to follow.

I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
