I wanted to give 4 stars just because it was really interesting and unique to see this situation from this point of view, but overall I was left disappointed.
I was hoping for it to be a little darker/scarier, and I didn't like how well everything worked out for Joe throughout the book:It just didn't make sense for him to get away with the murders as well as he did, especially with Peach's. Who plans their suicide so carefully that they stuff their pockets with rocks to make sure no one finds your body? Nobody. Also, she thought she had a stalker, and Beck knew that. Beck would have at least been questioned since she was the last person with her and would've been a suspect, and the topic of the stalker would come up.
As for Beck's murder, it'd make sense for her seduced therapist to be the murderer, but you're telling me that nobody talked to her friends and that they didn't mention her boyfriend/fling of the past few months? It just didn't make sense for him to not even be questioned about his relationship with her.

Took a while for me to finish this book, about a week an a half. The writing was subpar, but in my honest opinion there was just too much filler. This caused me to put down the book quite a bit as it was just hard to get through.

I did not think I was going to like this book as much as I did. Coming from watching the TV show over the past few years and thoroughly enjoying it in a guilty pleasure sort of way, I thought I’d try out the book and oh my god!
It’s hard to talk about this book without comparing it to the show. This book doesn’t humanise Joe- who is for all intensive purposes a murderous stalker. When watching the show, the scenes with him and the various children he aids throughout almost felt as though the show were trying to justify his actions, explain away bad behaviours and make us route for him in the wrong way.
This book gets you inside the mind of Joe and it’s not as if you justify his actions but you get to see why (from his perspective) they need to be done. You see the spiral of obsession, the darkness of jealousy and the inevitable eruption of rage.
My only concern for this book are those that brand it as romance??? Please rethink x

This book really is a rollercoaster, mainly because we’re so stuck in Joe’s read and his thoughts flip so quickly between total happiness and intense anger. I hated him with a burning passion, but I think that made this book great. Reading this was a really stressful experience because Joe really has no boundaries as to what he would do to get to Beck and I just found myself on the edge of my seat every time he got angry because you never knew what he would be willing to do.
I wasn’t really a fan of the amount of sex in this book. I felt it was unnecessary and right at the very start I thought I might DNF this book just because of it. I understand that some of it was necessary but I would have personally preferred if this wasn’t some weird, messed up, psychopathic porn.
I enjoyed this book overall. I loved how unique and weird it was and how different Joe was from any other main character I’ve read from before. I think the perspective and second person narrative really made this book and worked super well. This is a book you almost hate to tell anyone you have read because it is...messed up. But the writer entrances you and you cannot put it down. Moving on to Hidden bodies.
