I bought and read this book after Netflix released the tv show adaptation, which I enjoyed. The book is very different from the show, the biggest detail being just how unlikable Joe is. In the show, they gave him a few redeeming qualities so that the viewer could at least partially sympathize with him at some moments. That does not happen in the book and because the entire thing was written from Joe's point of view, it actually made it difficult to get through. I was very uncomfortable with how over-sexualized it was, even more so than in the show. Despite that, I'm going to read the sequel because I'm curious about what Joe will do next.
