The book is very similar to the tv show  but there are some differences. I like watching the tv show more than I like reading the bbut I don’t feel like it’s for me. I wouldn’t read the second book. You don’t have to pay attention the small ideas. You can experience it and actually see what happens instead picturing what’s happening in mind . There’s a lot spicy scenes in this book. Dan is a creepy, stalking character. He has obsession with a women he would not letting anyone get in the way to get close the women. It’s a psychological, narcissistic book.

Book Joe is much creepier and more deranged than series Joe. Book Joe is intense, I had to read it in sections and take breaks. But it was worth it. At the end, I ended up disliking everyone.

There are a lot of reviews that say they prefer the TV show to the book. I'm the exact opposite.
I love the novel's writing style and think that the book is a bit more honest about the fact that Joe is a bad person. It really helps literally being in his head - while he pictures himself as an overall loving, good person, you get a peek at his actual thoughts and feelings, which are often misogynistic in nature. Like REALLY misogynistic in nature. It's an interesting read, and I had a good time while reading it. The show is VERY true to the book, with only some minor differences and add ons.

CHILLING........

so i bought this because i loved the show, and everyone told me 'joe is so much darker in the book!' and i was like okay ill bite

i don't think joe is like super darker in this, but because we are limited to his inner dialogue in the show, we miss out on some of the crazy creepy stuff he thinks about. plus, the show made a lot of changes to the plot. like the paco plot doesn't exist in the books, and yk in the show ur like 'oh he a terrible guy but at least he's helping paco' well you cant say that in the book..

this book was actually scary, not cuz of some monster or vampire yk but because this could happen to anyone irl! plenty of people don't figure out their being stalked for years.. joes narrating was so crazy to me, like people actually think this shit. he's super perverted and he's great at gaslighting and manipulating!

anyway super good book, very disturbing, anddddd id say 13+. if your mature. there's a bunch of perverted stuff and sex scenes, as well as detailing of murder and stalking (obviously)

Loved how scary Joe is written, truly explores obsession and stalking and the mind of a man that wants to destroy a woman, whether intentional or not. The book is absolutely better.

I struggled to really get into the story. Neither the MCs were likeable. Unfortunately I saw the Netflix series beforehand therefore there was no suspense for me.
