So much better than the first book! I still enjoyed it thoroughly the second time.

Rating: 4.5/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This book was so much better than the last book! Everything was better. The writing, plot, romance, etc. At the start of the book, Feyre was getting ready for her marriage to Tamlin but wasn't dealing with her trauma from Amarantha. We were all wondering what would happen as a result of her deal with Rhys. Well, let me tell you, it was interesting. I loved reading about The Night Court and everyone there. Loved Mor, Amren, Cassian, Azriel, etc.

In the last book, the villain, Amarantha, seemed cartoonish. She reminded me of a villain in a cartoon for little kids. Barely any back story and even the evil things she did seemed like things villains in cartoons for children would do. But in this book we were introduced to The King of Hybern. Now this is a villain I can get behind. I was left wondering what were his motives and tons of other things. He seemed super interesting and I actually think he is an amazing villain despite him not being in the majority of the book.

I already knew about the change in love interests and I blame TikTok for that. Despite that, I still liked Tamlin after A Court of Thorns and Roses and didn't know if I could get behind it. Well...I could get behind it! In the last (roughly) 100 pages of the book, Rhys and Feyre were literally so sweet. We got to learn so much more about Rhys and I loved learning his motives.

Also, I hate Tamlin. People who have read the book will understand. If I write about him for any longer I will go on a rant.

There was something unexpected at every page! (And I mean EVERY page.) There were so many twists and turns that I sometimes had to put this book down, curse out of shock, then pick this book back up and continue reading. It was a true roller coaster. The end was literally heartbreaking. But this is expected of most books. Can't wait to read the next book! I NEED it so much!

Now I admit...this was a super fun story that I loved. But although I was behind the change in love interests and hating Tamlin...it honestly felt like Sarah J. Maas sort of forgot how she wrote Tamlin and just changed him. I feel like the book isn't as revolutionary as so many people paint it to be. The way his change in behavior was explained felt like Sarah J. Maas just really wanted a chance to write about Rhysand.

This was my favorite book out of the whole series. Did it put me into an emotional spiral? A little bit, yes. I think it did a great job at portraying how depressed and broken Feyre was after being UTM and being with a man that used fucking as a solution. Then we get chapter 54 and 55?? oooooooooOoo mah gawd. Beautiful, muah. This book left me on such a cliffhanger that I immediately went and bought the next book. 10/10 loved it
