Six teenagers live in the 'Lit Lair', a beachfront mansion paid for by one their rich families. The six are mainly social media influencers, competing for followers, sponsorship deals, & their love lives. Things look perfect from the outside but the ugly underbelly of their lives are exposed when one of them is found dead in the pool. When a TikTok account starts to post messages about the death hinting that it may be murder, the police track the account & it is coming from inside the 'Lair' itself - is one of them a murderer?

Now I'll admit that I'm not the target audience for this book, I have absolutely no interest in using TikTok, but for me it was a chore to read. It could have been really good as it takes on some pretty heavy subjects such as online bullying, instead the plot became bogged down in petty rivalries, jealousies, & the most vapid exchanges you've ever read. The main characters in the house were not really fleshed out enough for the reader to actually care about what happens to any of them, & the F/F romance just felt a bit forced. Verdict: could have been so much better.

I found the book slow to truly get started. I mean, you kind of know some stuff that’s going to be revealed but it’s never relevant until it happens. The good first half-60% of the book spans across 5 days, and during those five days, nothing overly interesting happens. There were probably 4 juicy bits leading up to the resolution, but even they weren’t as dramatic as I would have liked. It could just be me, as I like drama and big suspense, but if you’re one who likes that as well, this book may be slightly anti-climactic. I had my suspicions from the start, basing them off of how likely they were to actually want the victim dead or just how they acted to other characters before/after the character’s death, but I also rated them based on how likely they would be to kill the character based on what roles they would have played in other books. For example, they’re not suspicious enough/too suspicious, and how if a writer was writing solely for throwing readers for loops, what character would be chosen to be the killer so it’s a completely unsuspected surprise. I also highlighted small things that were pointed out obviously in the text after the murder that I thought might be relevant, and one of them was connected. That being said, I only started to catch on to what might be cooking very close to the reveal, and even once I did read it, it was still a big shock that made me think. That being said, the characters definitely learned from their pain. This book was well-crafted with an enticing plot, but was a little slow to get started. You just have to keep reading until you get to the good stuff, and then wait until you’re shocked. Kiley Roache will do the rest for you.

Loved this book so much! A different take on murder mysteries. The plot twist wasn’t the most original thing ever but I still thought it was *chef’s kiss*
