oh my god

My jaw is on the flood. Freida can do no wrong at this point. It’s rare that I’m shocked at how a book unfolds but this one has me speechless!

This book was fine. I thought I had the twist figured early, and I was sort of right? The character I thought was linked was but not in the way I thought so that was fun. But I’ll be honest, even then, the twists just didn’t hit me. Felt more “…oh.” than “OHMYGOD!” It made sense, but I just didn’t care much for it.

Loved Adrienne as a character. She was the most realised character for me, and felt less two-dimensional than a lot of the others. I grew to care about her story, how she’s gone from having this hard exterior to slowly showing her vulnerable side and letting herself open up to relationship and romance, and the subsequent problems that brought. In fact, everyone in the past sections of the book were a lot more compelling than the present sections with Ethan and the main character, whose name genuinely escaped me for most of the book until a later reveal. Which I think says a lot.

This was an easy read though, quick to get through after the last book I read this month so I can’t complain much. But this makes 2/2 for Freida books I’ve read where I’ve been underwhelmed by the twists. So hopefully her next one is better.

I usual genre is fantasy and romance. Read this as my daughter is obsessed with me reading her type of books and said this was epic. I enjoyed it. I liked it. It was fact paced and not a long book which i was glad for. It defiantly had me guessing what would happen but i wouldn't say i was floored when all the twists and turns were laid out. I may look at other books by Freida to read as a cleanser when i'm board of my romantasy phase.
