TRIGGER WARNINGS: sexism, arguments about religion, mentions of suicide, despair.

I read this, for a second time, for a class project. The goal is to take the play and summarize it into a 10min performance. Despite Antigone being a short script, it is hard to pick out just a few key scenes. The chorus summarizes important events, and the interaction of characters is necessary to understand the warring perspectives on age, gender, religion, and justice. It is an interesting read, my only note is that one perspective in the end is portrayed as being the "right" one.

Antigone is amazing. She is a strong female character that goes up against both the state and her family and she fights for what she knows is right. So much of this play is characters arguing against her just because she is a woman, and she proves them all wrong. I loved it. A tragedy that still feels applicable today. I just wish it was longer with more plot happening.

For: fans of the theater or tragedies; readers looking for a strong female character in classic literature.

Possible red flags: character death; suicide; murder; sexism.
adventurous
