I’m sorry but this was too slow burn for me… 77% in the FMC Clara still doesn’t know what she wants to do!?? Hot dark and twisted Alaric is fighting his instincts to avenge another and Clara is just running around having dinner and pretending to stab him. This did have all the best tropes, the angst between the main characters is great but nothing substantial happens. A huge miss for me, and the series is 5 books deep? There was nothing for me in book 1 to keep me going for another 4 installments. Happy reading…

A Beauty and the Beast retelling, where the first 3 chapters were so much like ACOTAR, that I knew what was coming next...
About that cliffhanger, it's clear bad vamps are coming, and Clara will be forced to be marked by Alaric.
This book had potential, but lacked World building.
I wanted more... from Oliver Wolverick! Ironic, I know

There was no character development, no plot, lots of repetition. The world building wasn't stable and the language kept flipping between modern, old fashioned and some attempt at a different world vernacular.
