Idk why I kept this book for several years on my bookshelf and never even had the intention to read it… it was such a captivating enemies to lovers!

Let me premise this by saying that I listened to the audio of this and didn't love the narration. It was very monotone and didn't do this book any favors. That being said, I mostly enjoyed the story. I'm not going to sabotage any name spelling here, but the FMC was cunning and fierce. The MMC was a broody king (which is my favorite!). It was a story full of stories. I think if I read the next one, I definitely won't do the audio.

This book wasn't what I was expecting. I know I'm a bit late in reading it (in terms of how long ago it was trending on booktok), but I thought that I would still really like it.
I didn't really mind tht the enemies to lovers wasn't slowburn, but I didn't enjoy the fact that even though Shahrzad was totally in love with Khalid, she still said "No, I have to get revenge" every two seconds. Like, it was a constant circle of "I love him, but like, I don't want to love him. But I'm still happy that I love him" and "I don't love him, I can't love him". Like, she never really accepted the fact until like the last 50 pages.
I don't know, but I was expecting it to be different, maybe because all of the hype. I didn't completely dislike it, though. I mean, there were some really cute scenes between Khalid and Shahrzad. And the sort of found family trope was really nice.
3.5/5.

It's more like 3.75 stars. I just rounded it up to 4. It was okay, I enjoyed it. I love how strong Sharzi is. Khalid sounds sexy. Tariq annoys me, though, but that's typical of the third-wheel guy.. This book is great while listening to the soundtrack of Aladdin.tho I didn't really do that. It just plays over and over in my head. I'm just rambling and not really giving you anything solid to base on if you should read this book or not. Why not just give it a sgot and read it vlindly. I did. Onwards to book 2!

La ambientación es brutal y el romance me conquistó. Termina muy abierto, en lugar de bilogía debió ser un sólo libro seguro.
