I knew nothing about evolution.
slow-paced

Before reading The Selfish Gene, the term evolution was an abstraction. My understanding only went so far as "slow adaptation over unimaginably long periods of time." I thought that was all there was to it. Wrong. It is a beautiful, yet difficult, science. More intricate and far-reaching than I could have imagined. Dawkins explores subjects ranging from mantis' sexual cannibalism to war tactics. And the subtle 'up yours' to religion were delightful. It's quite the liberating read. But as I said, not always easy. An occasional triple-check was necessary, and I would certainly benefit from reading it again, and then some. The fact that it is not easy is not a bad thing though. The amalgamation of knowledge is the life's work of many scholars, so it's quite normal to not to get it instantly.

The book is very enlightening

It is defiantly a non-audio-friendly book. There where many situations that requires some kind of illustration to understand the sophisticated process of how DNA is working for example (Those who had a proper biology classes will not need this).

informative slow-paced

You know what I learned a lot more about life as a whole than I thought I would when discussing genes. Super information dense, I’m sure I forgot just as much as I absorbed.

I love to hear Richard Dawkins but I can not seem to wrap my head around his writing. First it was The God Delusion and now this. I tried to finish this book but then I realized I am not understanding anything and just wasting my time.

So I will be coming back to this book in few years time.
