As with all of Ms. Carnes books this story will tug your heartstrings and make you feel all the things. You’ll love Jen who is strong, smart and independent. You’ll fall for Razor the leader of the Scythes MC, wrongly disgraced former military and hot as Hades. Sam the little boy who watched his father kill his mother will steal your heart away. This story will hit you in all the tender parts and leave you wanting more. Romantic suspense at its finest.

Another fantastic read by Cara Carnes. I love all the cross overs from the Arsenal and Susan Stoker's books. Very fast moving story line. Definitely best to have read the prior books in this series and the Arsenal series. If you haven't read the Arsenal series, stop everything and get Jagged Edge. I love both of these series.

I received this book as an ARC.

Upon first meeting Razor in the previous book, I expected him to be kind of rough around the edges. What we got was an alpha male with a heart. He falls fast for Jen and is extremely attentive and protective of her. I was not expecting how thoughtful he'd be with her. He was not one to shy away from his care of her, lots of PDA. The story did not have as much action as other Cara Carnes books, but it had plenty of heart. I loved meeting new characters as well as seeing some members from the Arsenal and Susan Stoker's Deltas. The Counterstrike family increased to include the Scythe family as they worked together for a common goal, protecting the innocent and protecting each other.

Wow just wow this book was great, but the backstory to the Scythes MC Men is unforgivable. But this book tugs on those strings connected to the heart and makes you feel everything that the people in this book feel.

I loved that Jen has a strong backbone and is very independent and strong, as for Razor he is the Prez of the Scythes MC, and was wrongly dismissed from the military and hot as McSteamy from Grey Anatomy.

This book has it all, heaps of action McSteamy romance, anticipated suspense. Cara’s books are my go to automatic buy for me, even if I am on the review team. She is also one of my favourite authors to meet in person.

First things first... this actually took me a few chapters to actually get into... at some points I was considering giving up... I am happy that I persevered... Why was I giving up? I found the set up confusing and somewhat annoying. I didn't 'get' the characters, the ones from Scythe that is. I'm not particularly keen on MC based books. Not that this was... really.

But, I am happy that I did carry on... once it all got going... it didn't stop. Have to say the addition of The Arsenal ( JUD!!! ), the Delta's and, of course, Tex... really ramped everything up.

I loved all the side stories. The Ghosts especially... I am hoping that we see more of them in some format or another.

I didn't like the scene that Jen walked into with the woman giving a blowjob. Do we need that? Really? It's just... tasteless. I also didn't need to know that some club bunny/sweet butt/whore/or whatever they are deemed ridded Razor of his virginity when he was 14... it was supposed to be when he was 13... but hey, he blew his load before he could get in her. The thing is, I know that teenagers have sex... but, it is normally with some close to their own age. This... oh, I so want to use the p word... well, she was 19. An adult. Who, sure, had probably been around the block a time or two. That is her choice. Cool. But again... did it add to the story being told? For me? Not at all. This nearly swayed me down to a 2-3 star rating... which, for me, with Cara Carnes it is virtually unheard of.

All in all... probably in my top two of the Counterstrike tales as they stand.

Fighting Jen is set within Susan Stoker's Operation Alpha's world and thus you'll see familiar names like Tex. I'm conflicted with this book, I'm a huge fan of Cara Carnes and so far, I've loved all her books. However, I find myself just trudging along and forcing myself to turn each page. There is a lot and I mean A LOT of exposition. I'm left dissatisfied with the romance between Jen and Razor, I wanted more of their romantic interactions. They hardly have anything physical going on between them till nearly the end of the book. Granted I'm not asking for sex sex sex all the way but the lack of physical interaction was frustrating to me.

I pray that this is not the new norm for Cara Carnes in the way she writes her books going forward. What made me wistful of what it could be is that I love the MC genre and this marriage between paramilitary and MC would have been perfect for me. Still at the end of it all, I'm still firmly in the Cara Carnes camp. With this book I might be one of the rare anomaly, I'm truly happy that my other fellow readers gave it a 5 star, unfortunately it just didn't work for me.
