Not the book you'd pick for a fun and informative read. It has a serious tone and focuses on delivering the history of Indymedia and uses its working to make a broader critique. It analyzes the structure, governance and strategy of Indymedia and points out the disengagement of social movements with capitalism, class, Marxist theory and political economy. The author emphasizes the rising prominence of independent media a lot and also shows news, statistics, stories that project their impact; but in the same vein, captures their defects accurately.
