I love owning Levi’s story even if I knew what happened already. I love that they gave him a background. It was a great idea and well told.

Honestly, this entire thing made me love Levi even more and see how deep his protective instinct really is. It's different from the anime OVA and it offers SO much more about Levi and his more vulnerable side. He took in Isabel when she was just a starving child. He took in Furlan when all his friends had abandoned him. Levi's kind, compassionate heart is on fire here, notwithstanding his hard exterior. And then his conversation with Erwin––the catalyst which made Levi start seriously thinking about dedicating his heart.

That line about protecting others changes Levi.

He's shocked and he then tells Erwin how he defeated the Titan, something he refused to do to anyone else who poked him about it. That light in Levi's eye is the need to give protection to others, something Erwin is saying he can accomplish in the Survey Corps, making others feel safe with his strength, with his skill. That's what changes an underground thief into a compassionate, caring captain.

One thing I love about this over the anime also is how it shows that Levi feels like he's equals with his two friends. The whole manga chronicles the change Levi's feeling in his role among the people he cares about. He refuses to call them his subordinates, but he commands them to protect them. He's not this underground boss like the anime shows. He's younger; just a young man with a good heart in a hard life with the family he cobbled together.

I love this manga to bits, and if you love Levi or Erwin at all, please read this!

mi corazón 💔
Definitivamente esta historia me hizo simpatizar mucho más con Levi que es un personaje que me cuesta mucho comprender. Fulan y Isabel fueron lo mejor de la vida!
