“And so, in a last-ditch attempt to be the best mother I can be, there will be conditions on the inheritance of my fortune. You’ll each have one year to complete the task I’ve set for you. Each task has been designed for you alone, to push you to be the best version of yourself. Should any of you fail, you will all fail, and my vast fortune will be left to Aussie Animal Rescue.’

At its core this story is about a mother leading her 4 grown daughters to live up to their potential and be their best selves. As she gets her life in order after a terminal cancer diagnosis Jacki sets these challenges for her daughters in the hope that they all learn something about themselves. But the way she goes about this is questionable, but I guess that’s what makes Jacki Turner sort of fun to hate.

Mel: I know I’m getting better, and I should be pleased, but it’s not the same when you’re forced to do something. I just feel resentful all the time.’

I feel like this quote sums up a lot of how these girls felt at the start but what makes this story so enjoyable is watching Jackie’s plan to help her daughters step away from their comfort zones actually work.

Overall this was the fun, easy, entertaining read with some heart that I was hoping it would be! Will eagerly awaiting Michelle’s next release :)

One of the girls in one of the online running communities that I am a part of shared this book.  The reason because one of the characters in the book has to run a marathon.  She said it was funny and relatable, so I reserved the audiobook on borrow box.

This book was quick and easy to read, and thoroughly enjoyable.

Multi-millionaire & mother Jackie Turner is dying of cancer.  She sets her four daughters' individual challenges in order to inherit her wealth.  If any of the daughters of fail, then they lose their inheritance.

The characters are are quirky and relatable

Pack this one in your beach bag, definitely buy it at the airport, and just give over the complete indulgence of it. It’s Marian Keyes in the Queensland sunshine, or Emily Henry if she decided to turn her pen to family drama. It’s all of the good things, and the perfect summer read (yes, I’m declaring it). It’s the bit of sparkle we need right about now.
