this was an excellent book about one of the greatest heros in the Marine Corps. He was and is the reason that their is a sniper program in the U.S. Millitary. It is a shame that he died at the young age of 57 due to M.S. He was a great man. One shot one kill Carlos Ohh Rah!!!!
informative slow-paced

Some trash for the plane, actually decent - stalking the general and nemesis sniper were highlights. Also finished with Carlos' (hard) integration back into society which was nice touch - gave the coda a bit of a Catch-22 oh-god-the-horrors-of-war feel. (Or at least that's what this hippie read into it.)

Aside: as a result I thought I might enjoy watching American Sniper film on the plane back but I was wrong it was a terrible movie. Not cringey bad just boring and shallow. I think I actually found this book coz the reviews of American Sniper (the book, showed up in Amazon recoms) said to read this instead.

Amazing career for the US Marine Corps greatest sniper. I felt that the writing was a bit uneven at times, but the supurb research and pulling the sources together to complete the story in a believable way was very well done. The story of Seargeant Hathcock is one of perseverence in the face of any obstacle, and then succeeding. I highly recommend.

An excellent read. I was somewhat traumatised by the unexpected and graphic torture scene halfway through and it felt surplus to requirements as if only there to shock.
