This is by far the best story in the Bane Chronicles, but I’m not surprised. We get two for the price of one in Herondales, and that’s all I need to be happy.

HERONDALES!?!

UGH! Why does your family cause me such distress? -Sigh-

I really enjoyed this one, it was a much better and more well rounded story in comparison to the previous volumes. They're getting better as they go, I hold out high hopes for when I get to the Malec stories.

”My father was cursed,” James said from the darkness. “Whereas I? I’m damned.”

It’s been seven years since I first read this short story and I can still confidently say it’s one of the best ones.

Over the years we’ve gotten to see the tlh characters grow up and develop a lot in the short story collections, so to be honest it’s insane to me that this was our introduction to James Herondale. Because he’s so unlike himself in this one. He’s rude and sad and not the sweet boy we know and love.

Which is why Tatiana’s children are one of the biggest mysteries in the whole Shadowhunter Chronicles. I’m way too excited for Chain of Gold. Oh my god.

And well, it’s always great to see herongraystairs in action. Loved it.

12. A book that is a collaboration between 2 or more people

I do believe, The Midnight Heir has broken my heart, just like Clockwork Princess did.
