Intriguing idea with the music but I thought there needed more character development to explain the maturing.
Got about 1/3 of the way through and both of the main characters just kept PMO so much that it didn’t feel worth trying to stick with it in the hope of them becoming somewhat tolerable.

So good! Very <i>Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow</i> -esque. I couldn't stop reading. I knew about 2% of the songs they were talking about but it didn't affect my experience. A good read.

This was such a different read from what I’m used to. It dives deep into the music scene of the late ‘90s/early ’00s and I’m genuinely really excited to see this being adapted to film. This felt like such a nuanced read and I really enjoyed the writing style (it’s hard to describe, it feels very slice of life and at the same time like the MC is recounting the story for you - it was so unique).
Deep Cuts is a story about reliance, reluctance, personal growth, and change and I recommend it if you enjoy reading literary fiction. Also, this is, in a way, a love story, but this is NOT a romance. This is more than that, and I really enjoyed how music tied into, quite literally, every facet of the FMCs life. Truly such a unique read!
