This was such a different read from what I’m used to. It dives deep into the music scene of the late ‘90s/early ’00s and I’m genuinely really excited to see this being adapted to film. This felt like such a nuanced read and I really enjoyed the writing style (it’s hard to describe, it feels very slice of life and at the same time like the MC is recounting the story for you - it was so unique).

Deep Cuts is a story about reliance, reluctance, personal growth, and change and I recommend it if you enjoy reading literary fiction. Also, this is, in a way, a love story, but this is NOT a romance. This is more than that, and I really enjoyed how music tied into, quite literally, every facet of the FMCs life. Truly such a unique read!

Ik vond Deep Cuts ZO LEUK! het is precies the perfect spot wat periode, muziek betreft: ik hou van haar analyses en herken zoveel in haar buitenstaander gevoel. Heel blij met dit boek, deze ga ik zeker nog een keertje lezen.

Ok - I was planning to give this three….but the ending was so horribly cheesy.
If you like music, specifically early 2000s indie pop/rock, like I do, maybe still read this. But otherwise, skip, unfortunately
