I really enjoyed this! It definitely has the same coming-of-age energy that Last Night at the Telegraph Club has, but I liked the focus on art and also on friendships! Platonic bonds can really make a book so much better to me.
The familial bonds in this book were BEAUTIFUL!!!! I did enjoy the romance plots as well, just slightly less.
And the ending felt a little rushed but overall high quality book.
Malinda Lo could write anything and I would read it, her writing style makes my brain happy.

I wish that Lily and Kath had come up sooner in the book, I think it would have made for a very cool addition to when Aria is just figuring things out.
Also, the last part of the book was sadder than I was expecting! But it still came together nicely.
Can’t believe the epilogue didn’t tell us who Tasha got engaged to, I want to knowwww :)

Sapphics who would adore Chappell Roan have life-altering problematic situationships. What else is there to say besides it slaps?

Also I have to disagree with everyone who rated this low because the relationship had cheating, this isn't a romance there's a reason it ends with them separated. This is about a situationship where Aria discovers her queerness through someone older (already questionable), but it ultimately fails and I for one find that a lot more raw and relatable (not all of us end up with our first queer crush/situationship nor should we) and applaud Malinda Lo for it. Also she was not a homewrecker because Steph lied to her about being poly.

A good queer YA read. Vividly made me feel like I was in SF. Kudos for being a YA book where the teenage romance doesn't continue into the future - it felt more realistic, with a bittersweet ending. Don't get why the blurb says the main character joins a working-class queer community, when she does no reflecting on her own class privilege at all in the book.
