I didn’t realize the FMC was 17. The way they are written, they seemed older.

“Your footsteps echo in the sand and the stars. To own souls such as yours is a great honor.”
(3.5 stars) darkly atmospheric, gritty, yet hopeful, this was a wonderful start to a series that i know i will come to adore. marked down a little because 1) elias could not stop himself from having teenage h-word thoughts every time a love interest was in a scene with him and 2) the character development left a bit to be desired; but honestly, i adored both elias and laia so much and came to believe so deeply in their journeys that i found myself consistently attached to them as characters and intrigued by every step of their stories. i can’t wait to witness their growth, both individually and as a duo, in the coming books

It was fantastic since the beginning. Few books can capture my attention since the first sentence.
