Love the series so far. I’m reading it with a group of my 6th grade students and they are loving it. Can’t wait to start book two. Left off with just the right amount of suspense and questions to be answered.

the pacing was great, i was never bored or waiting for something to happen because there was always something happening.

Whew. 5 stars for sure omg, this was so good. Like genuinely I could not put it down. I picked it up not knowing what to expect and I surely didn't expect to read something this beautiful I GET THE HYPE NOWWW. my goodness, can I just say I love Laia and Elias bro they were so fkn cute will never ever get over them. I know their little thang hasn't fully sparked yet but I just already know how cute they're about to be. The concept of this entire book was just amazing and was a throat grabber cause lord I didn't put the book down once.
Actually 4.5 stars! Read this book NOW!!! While the first 100 pages or so we're slow going, the rest of the book made up for it. I need the second book right now! Damn...it's a pretty dark book but still full of hope!

Going to have to switch to the physical version. I cannot stand the FMC narrator. It sounds like a good epic story but her quavering, frail voice makes cowering Laia just annoying and unlikeable. I prefer strong women characters but want to give Laia a chance to grow. I don’t think that’s possible with this annoying voice in my ears.
