3.8 AVERAGE

I enjoyed getting to know Olivia, Caitlin, and Juliet. The story had a good flow, and I appreciated getting the different POVs.

Thank you Harlequin Books for allowing me to participate in The Sea Glass Cottage Blog Tour! I was given a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

This was my first RaeAnne Thayne novel but definitely not my last!

This book was all female, mostly all of the time. There were many female characters, Liv, her niece and her mother, with whom she has a stressed relationship with. Sometimes, I would think this would be too much drama going on, but I think RaeAnne Thayne did a phenomenal job with the writing to keep the reader interested.

Like I said, there was a lot going on. If this was separated by character and chapters, it would've for sure been way too confusing. However, it was just an overall story about these characters and it was like watching a soap opera in my head. I don't mean that in a bad way at all. It was as they say, "like a train crash, you want to look away, but you can't."

There are a lot of emotions in this book. It's crushing and heartwarming all in the same book. RaeAnne Thayne did a wonderful job making sure all of the characters were heard in the same way. I didn't feel as though I knew more about one character than I did another. Also, the story is a lot about overcoming obstacles whether they are physical or mental. I really enjoyed that aspect of this novel.

Lastly, RaeAnne Thayne did a great job with the talk of drug abuse in this novel. This is a really sensitive topic with the society we are in. As someone who has lost individuals to this epidemic, I felt as though RaeAnne Thayne handled this with care. She really did make this feel as though we were looking at this story through Caitlin's eyes. Losing someone to this is soul-crushing and I really felt that with Liv's niece.

Overall, I really enjoyed The Sea Glass Cottage. There was a lot going on, but I think it was really good. I will for sure be giving RaeAnne Thayne another read!

RaeAnne Thayne's "The Sea Glass Cottage" was an enjoyable read, reminiscent of one of Debbie Macomber's or Emily March's novels. There were a lot of plot threads and characters involved in the story, but everything was woven together nicely and easy to follow. Each of the characters was likeable and well-developed, and their complicated relationships plus the various secrets they kept from each other made for a compelling story.

I particularly enjoyed the book's overarching themes of healing and forgiveness, as well as how the three generations of Harper women came to better understand each other and how to navigate their complex family dynamics. Juliet, Olivia, and Caitlin were much closer by the end of the book and had learned to relate to each other in new, healthier ways. Their individual journeys were quite interesting as well, and Juliet's and Olivia's romances with Henry and Cooper, respectively, added yet another emotional layer to the plot.

In addition to the central story involving the Harper family, I was also drawn into the plot thread involving Cooper's sister Melody, whose husband had abandoned her and her three young boys a few months earlier. Melody seemed like such a lovely person, and her boys added a bit of fun to the narrative. It would be great to see Melody's story continue in a future book. She deserves to find love again, and her boys deserve a father figure besides their Uncle Cooper.

Overall, I am pleased to recommend "The Sea Glass Cottage" for anyone who enjoys stories about the complex nature of family relationships and learning how to forgive the ones we love even when it's a challenge. I look forward to Ms. Thayne's next book.

This book is everything I could ever want in a romance complete with love, laughter, and some tears. I loved the viewpoint switches between Liv, her niece Caitlin, and her mom Juliet and having them all added a lot to the story. Thayne has clearly been doing this writing thing for a while, and her writing is smooth and flows perfectly throughout. There were so many parts that broke my heart for the characters, but overall this is still a heartwarming read that will leave you with all of the warm fuzzies. I was thinking while I listened to it that it was like a warm hug in book form.

The audiobook of The Sea Glass Cottage was lovely and it is narrated by Vanessa Johansson who did a wonderful job with the story and putting emotion where it was needed. I listened to this book in basically a day, and it hooked me from the very beginning. Even though there are some tough subjects and sadness, it is filled with a lot of hope and I enjoyed seeing how the relationships between the characters developed as the book went on. I loved so many of the different characters and this was such a refreshing read after a bunch of thrillers. I laughed quite a bit, and there was a lot that brought a smile to my face. Even though this is book one of a series it looks like the setting and characters have been seen in other novels by this author, but I didn't feel lost at all. Honestly, it just made me want to read more by Thayne and I am so happy she is now on my radar!

This book was fine and that was disappointing. I expected more than fine. I found it boring at times and was just ready for it to be over. I’m not interested in reading any more in this series.

Olivia is trying to get over a traumatic event when she hears that her mother Juliet has fallen and broken her hip. Olivia immediately leaves the city to go back to the small town she grew up in. In addition to the trauma she recently suffered Olivia know has to deal with all the hard events of her past.

While there she also runs into her childhood crush, has to deal with a belligerent teenage niece as well all while working her own job and running the family business while her mom is recovering from her fall.

As always RaeAnne Thayne does a wonderful job with all of the relationships in the book and weaving them together. The characters are well written and definitely make you feel for them, as old wounds are healed and new relationships are formed or strengthened.

I really love small town settings and this one was a perfect introduction to Cape Sanctuary. There's 3 generations of heartache and secrets in one house and the characters are so well written I could truly imagine them. The fresh Northern California setting definitely reminded me of the Virgin River series (that I love) and early Kristin Hannah a la Summer Island. If you liked those books, you will definitely want to check out this one!

This book has everything I’ve come to expect from Thayne and does not disappoint! This is a cozy read with just the right balance of family drama and romance. The imagery that Thayne creates is gorgeous and it makes me want to visit this small town. If you need a light read and some good distraction from the real world, I highly recommend this book!
