Oh, I loved Remy. Again, so fun going back and seeing the "elder statesmen" of the team after accidently reading the second series first. Definitely a guilty pleasure series for me.
Harper and Remy are...perfect. Apart, they are flawed, and scared, but together they are exactly what they're meant to be. I LOVE them so much! This book is sexy, sweet, and just what a good sports romance should be!

“You need to speak her language, Remy.”
“Poppa,” he said with a heavy sigh. “There ain’t a dictionary invented that would help me understand Harper Chase.”

One-Sentence Summary: Strong petite female Versus a large Cajun hockey player
Review: In 1995 Susan Elizabeth Phillips gave us Phoebe Somerville, in 2009 Rachel Gibson gave us Faith Duffy and now in 2017 Kate Meader gives us the indomitable Harper Chase the new owner of a Hockey team who has to overcome all obstacles including a spiteful ex, 2 half sisters, a large dose of misogyny and one large burly irritable Cajun hockey player!
When the Hot In Chicago series came to an end, I held a minute's silence for the end of the scorching hot series and wondered what could possibly top a trilogy (give or take a novella) about hot firemen ....... erm, how about a series about hockey players and the three half-sisters who have inherited the team!!!
I can't even begin to describe the insane chemistry between Harper and Remy .... my words simply aren't good enough. All I can say is that from the scene in the rain in New Orleans all the way to the very end, you will feel like you need the entire Engine Co. 6 to come armed with their hoses (oh my, the double entendres!) to cool you down.
Harper is everything you would expect from a strong businesswoman tasked with whipping a bunch of men into shape. It is clear that issues with her father in the past affect her decisions and relationships in the present but these do not weigh down the story and instead give her character depth and flaws. Remy is the real surprise. When we and Harper meet him he has a half-naked girl draped across him and he is resistant, to put it nicely, to accepting that he has been traded and backs Harper into a corner before he is willing to try his hardest on the ice. We soon learn though that he has a heart of gold and family is the most important thing to him and is pretty much the perfect guy in every sense, even if takes Harper awhile to believe it.
“That’s all good advice. You should listen to it.” She put a trembling hand on the door, her ear straining to hear movement outside, which was incredibly difficult when your heart was pounding like a jet engine.
“Harper, I love you.”
Oh. That pounding heart cannoned out of her chest, plopped unceremoniously to the floor, and flapped about on the dirty linoleum.
He loved—he couldn’t, and even if he did, he shouldn’t. She ignored that dumb flapping heart. She had to.
“I’m sure your behavior in tonight’s game won’t have any impact on your trade. Maybe a two-game suspension, but you’ve been playing well and you’re positioned perfectly for the next part of the season. For a run at the Cup.”
She knew she sounded hard-hearted, but it was necessary. Inside, she was a hot mess, but outside she was Clifford Chase’s daughter, team owner, and acting GM of the Rebels. Her heart would take no part in this decision.
“Did you hear what I said?”
Heard it, enshrined it, am already making Remy ♥ Harper T-shirts and picking out china patterns.
She spoke to the door. “I’m not what you want, Remy. I’m not this nurturing mom type who can change diapers while she makes million-dollar deals. You have a plan: the Cup. A family. A happily ever after. I can’t give that to you.”
“Yes, you can, Harper. You can do anything you put your mind to, baby.”
“The championship,” she coughed out. “That’s what you want.”
“And I still intend to get it. But there are greater goals, Harper. There are greater prizes.”
Harper and Remy aside, we also get to meet Harper's sisters, Isobel and Violet who have their own issues to deal with alongside future romances with Vadim (who no doubt is sexier than his name sounds. This is a reconciliation romance so needless to say I am totally looking forward to this!) and Bren respectively. As always in a Meader series, their books are set up well in this first novel and have you wishing their books were available to read rightaway. (Like seriously, at the risk of sounding like a drug addict jonesing for their next fix, who do I have to blackmail around here to make that happen ... ;)
Not even halfway through the year I think I've found my favourite romance of 2017.
Remy needed to finish this interview so he could whisk his femme away for a spot of off-ice passion. “Kayla, you asked if my relationship with the team owner affects my game. Here’s the only answer I can give you. Every day, I skate for my teammates, I skate for my family, and I skate for myself.”
Staring into Harper’s dancing green eyes, he spoke from the depths of the heart that belonged to this incredible woman.
“But mostly, I skate for her.”

I own several of Kate Meader's books, but Irresistible You is the first I've actually read. That's a mistake I'll be rectifying soon, let me tell you. This one had my name basically written all over it, from when I first read the blurb. Hot Cajun athlete and female team owner butting heads and fighting against wicked chemistry? I just knew I was going to love this one... and I did.
Remy was smoking hot and sexy and sweet. His dirty talk, in that accent? It made me weak in the knees and I was just reading it. I have no idea how Harper fought it as long as she did. She was my favorite kind of heroine — smart, sassy and relatable. I fell hard for both of these characters separately and then cheered them on both on and off the ice. Their romance, mixed with the complexities of the hockey team and the politics that go with it, made for a really great read that was hot, sweet, funny and even delivered some feels along the way.
I'm already half in love with the Chicago Rebels series after just one book. I can't wait to read the second book in the series! In the meantime, I'm going to be working my way through Kate's backlist.
FAVORITE QUOTES
"I don't take orders, Harper. I barely take suggestions."
"I'm not a 'quickie with my pants on' kind of guy. A night in my bed is usually sweaty, deep, and very hands-on."

I love hockey. I love romance. A hockey roman is irresistible. This book is an excellent hockey romance. The heroine Harper Chase worked hard to take over her father's hockey team. But his will gave an equal interest in the team with her two estranged half-sisters. Moreover, after his penny-pinching ways pushed the team to the bottom of the rankings, his will demands that Harper get the team into the playoffs to keep the team. The last thing Harper needs is an attitude from the team's latest acquisition, Remy DuPre. While Harper lives and breathes hockey, she is not going to get involved with a player. But Remy has other ideas. He has seduction on his mind, he begins with delivery of his home cooked meals to her office in the evening. Sigh. Who can resist a hot man who can cook? Also, to the sexy romance, I love the interaction between the sisters. Looking forward to reading the rest of this series.
Kate Meader has gifted the romance reader world with a new breed in hockey romance hero's. Irresistible You is a very promising start to her new series centered on the Chicago Rebels, a team owned by three very different half sisters. From start to finish, this book had me giggling and swooning. It's an utterly enjoyable read that I can't recommend enough!
Remy Martin , the "jinxed" hockey veteran needs few things to consider his life complete. The Stanley Cup being one of them. The other is the inspiration to settle down. The New Orleans born Acadian Cajun is simply DELIGHTFUL! He oozes a unique charm; infused with humor, good manners, and an unparalleled skill at sweet talk. And to top it off, he cooks! The story revolves around Harper Chase, the women who inherits a tea that is at the bottom in standings and she is desperate to turn that around. She believes Remy is the path to making this happen.
Meaders characters always have a depth that makes the reader really feel like you know them. Harper has insecurities brought about by her unique upbringing. She's standoffish but it's totally understandable. I could't have rooted harder for her to work through it so she could see Remy for all that he offers her. It's a great journey, seeing these two stand up to industry speculation and gossip and to allow themselves to enjoy their scorching chemistry. This book left me feeling the warm fuzzies and I'm very excited for this series and to see more of Remy and Harper. 5 Stars and recommendation!

“You feel that, Harper?”
She snatched back her hand. “If you mean my goodwill evaporating with every second you’re standing here, then, yeah, I feel it.”
“I think we’re havin’ a thing.”
They were. Oh, God, they were. “Why are you still here again?”
His mouth curved . “Lady, I got the distinct feelin’ these next few months are gonna be fun.”

Once again Kate Meader has written a flawless romance that blends sweet and heat with a story of family and friendship that will have you longing to move to Chicago and take in a hockey game or two.
In this story you'll meet Remy, a Cajun who loves his family, food and hockey. With an accent that will make you swoon, nicknames that will make you blush (Minou), and the ability to whip up an amazing meal, you'll fall in love with with this man who is the epitome of a gentlemen. Remy knows what he wants and isn't afraid to go for it. Especially when what he wants is Harper.
Harper is very career focused and set out to prove herself to a dad who clearly misjudged and underestimated her and a sports world that doesn't think she's capable of running a hockey team. Forced to share the decision making with her estranged sisters, she finds herself not just fighting for a team she loves but for all of womankind. An attraction to the sexy, veteran player she's brought on to get her team on track is the last thing she needs but the one thing she can't seem to ignore.
I adored Remy and Harper together. The tension between them was so incredibly hot I couldn't stop reading!! I also really enjoyed the family dynamic between her and her sisters and was happy to see them slowly starting to bond and work together and support each other the way they never had the chance to before.
I can already tell that This is going to be a great series and I'm really excited to see where the secondary character's stories take me!!

Irresistible You (Chicago Rebels) by Kate Meader
Ms. Meader is the go to author for sexy. Her characters are an irresistible combination of sweet and salty with a pinch of humor thrown in for good measure. Irresistible You is more than a hot tamale read. It tackles real issues. Issues like sexism, self - doubt, pride and second chances. Harper and Chase are the spark of this heated ensemble. Both are desperately trying to prove their worth in a sport that's already written them off. For Remy, hockey is a way of life. His world is the sport that made him a star, but age and reputation precede him and have landed him in a less than stellar position. Harper, is a woman making her way in a man's world. Faced with a failing team, family upheaval and a shocking betrayal she sets out to make her mark. What's a girl to do when faced with a frustrating, egotistical, sexy man? Fall in love, of course. Breaking the ice takes on a whole new meaning.
