I was really hoping to enjoy this - it subverts tropes, it’s sex positive, and I’m a sucker for a character pining from afar. But for most of the book I just wanted to reach inside the pages and shake both MCs. I don’t feel that either of them really grew or changed throughout the story (maybe Julian if you count him publicly revealing his past at the end but I’m still not convinced ) and Constance just seemed…mean? Self centered? If “love is a pattern of behavior,” why does she keep doing the things Julian explicitly asks her not to do and then is surprised when he gets upset about it? Julian constantly belittling and not trusting Constance is also A Problem™, but the distrust is, in my opinion, warranted given her actions. They did genuinely seem to love each other, but my word did they need couples therapy. Overall, I think the idea behind the story is fun but the characters made it hard to enjoy for me.
