What a strange experience reading this. The quick pace and the nosy conversations of adolescence came rushing back. That 'hoity-toity I know everything' attitude combined with the 'don’t care’ expressions perfectly sum up adolescence. Though the illustrations and particularly swirly hand lettering style weren’t something I’d usually go for, I loved how well they worked with the story, lyrics and characters. Also have to mention how it took me down the memory lane when we actually lined up outside stores eagerly waiting to buy CDs when they were released.

Everything about this book was strange. Strangely poignant. But what really made this a great story was the simplicity of storytelling, emotion and thought. And I know that it can be a daunting task to present simplicity in a world where everything is twisted.

I actually thought I wouldn’t like this - even cringed at the little note inside, but found myself pleasantly surprised, even smiling in the end.
