Fun mix of Lovecraft, 40s noir, and contemporary London.

The 40s noir mostly comes through the dialogue, which is either going to annoy you or amuse you, depending on who you are as a reader. The book, as a whole, reminded me a bit of Lucky Number Slevin, which is a movie I love (though most don't), and it's a mix of that same dialogue sensibility but with a much more visceral and violent present style of filmmaking. This is more a mix of that, but with horror, both contemporary styles and traditional styles.

It's a very quick read, but it's fun and interesting and utterly bizarre, which is just about everything it should be.

Solid stuff here.

Good short story set in HP Lovecraft universe. More intimidation then mystery.

Lovecraftian noir. I'd say "for fans of either of the 2 genres" because it's a bit on the slim side for anyone not interested in them. It does deliver on its premise though.

CN. Referenced SA and Child Abuse, Body Horror, Graphic Violence

This was pure pulp brilliance!

A cartoon noir detective story complete with ludicrous vernacular set on modern London (with equally ludicrous vernacular) stuck in a blender with some Beyond Cosmic Horror, classic Cthulhu taste, zero racism, and turned up to eleven!

From start to finish it's a perfect presentation of truly ridiculous elements that has no right to work as well as it does and be as good as it is.

Absolutely loved it and quickly becoming a huge Khaw fan!

An interesting short story/novella that fuses Lovecraftian mythos with noir fiction.

It feels like the prequel for something much longer and denser, but the writing style isn't my favorite, so I probably will not be reading more by this author.
