I chose it and didn’t stop listening because I LOVE THE NARRATOR chosen to read his book. and could listen to Daniel Henning voicing characters.

You know, saying that I really enjoyed this book just doesn't quite emphasize how perfectly messed up and vicious this book is.
From the dreary and dark setting of Elendhaven, all the way to the dynamic relationship between Johann and Florian where the words "love" and "devotion" fit but not well enough. While the plot was a little bit simple and didn't have nearly enough focus as I would have liked, I still found myself thoroughly engaged by how everything was so eloquently written.
Short yet sweet in a dark and savage way, this little novella will be a book I will fondly remember and look back on.

Beautifully written LGBT story where the characters are LGBT rather than being about the characters being LGBT. Thoroughly enjoyed this.

Creepy, gloomy, and dark
Just what I needed from a book in October. An entertaining quick read.

I’m not rating this because I read it entirely on audio. I’m trying to get more into audiobooks, but sometimes I found myself zoning out. Even when I really listened and paid absolute attention, I feel like I didn’t retain the story as well as I would have while physically reading it. Not sure if that’s just me or the book, so maybe I’ll come back and rate this once I’ve listened to more audiobooks, or if I ever get around to rereading it physically.

What I did retain though I enjoyed, so maybe a soft three stars? 3.5?

Read this in one night. It was enjoyable and I really liked the writing style and descriptions. I kind of wanted a bit more scenes just focused on the relationship and dynamic between Johann and Florian, as I think it was quite interesting. I think if it was developed a little bit more this story could’ve hit much better. But overall I thought it was a fun read.
