The setting and set up drew me in, and the banter in this book was great. The side characters could have been more developed, and while some of the plot points didn’t quite make sense (the financial burden, the free pass back and forth could have gotten a lot more use, heck even the bet itself was a bit flimsy), but if you can move past that, this book was sweet (albeit juvenile in its humor) at times, and was a true partnership of a relationship, and the characters kept their self worth which was refreshing (especially in this somewhat Victorian-esque fae setting). There were definitely some winks and nods to readers, and it was interesting to see the perspective of an author of “smut and drivel” especially in her research.

A cute and light read. Sure, not all things made sense, like why a poet and a romance writer would even share a tour. There was a bit too much miscommunication too, if you ask me. But the world was interesting and the overall vibe was cosy.

Too much fae wine, an ill-advised spicy fae bargain, and delightful enemies to lovers banter.  We love all of those things, and I had no idea I especially love it in a Victorian-esque setting?! The banter was sublime, the teasing adorable.
