Really good stuff particularly for TOS era! I liked it.

An entertaining adventure across two time periods, but sometimes I think Cox gets a little _too_ clever with the constant references to other Trek adventures. Sometimes it’s fun fan service, but sometimes it’s nice just to read a story without a wink-and-a-nudge on every other page.

Fairly decent, but utterly predictable

One of the best Trek books I've read in quite a while.

This was my first Star Trek novel. It was pretty fun but I have no basis of comparison when it comes to Star Trek literature. It did feel like a TOS episode or film written out. So if you find that appealing give it a read!

This time travel story begins well. We are introduced to Shaun Christoper whom fans might remember as being the future son of John Christopher in the episode "Tomorrow is Yesterday'. In this book we are told the 'real' story of the his first successful mission to Saturn. It wasn't as straight forward as the history books would lead us to believe.

In Kirk's time he and the crew of the Enterprise are coming to the rescue of a ringed planet that looks much like Saturn. A series of events causes Kirk and Christopher to switch in the same way as Kirk did with Janice Lester in 'Turnabout Intruder'. Confusion ensues.

For the most part it was well written and even funny at times as both men try to 'fit in' with the eras that they have been forced into.

I did not care for the character of Zoe. Call her a Mary Sue, call her a manic pixie dream girl, I don't care. I just do not care for that sort of chirpy quippy irritating personality. The book would have been much better either without her or by giving her a different personality.

The ending was a let down. It makes me wonder if perhaps Cox was being forced to met a deadline and this was a first draft of his intentions. To me everything fell down at that point. The writing, the story
line, the characters. Its too bad because the build up and most of the book worked. Too bad the ending didn't.
