“Welcome, child,” he said.
“Aslan,” said Lucy, “you’re bigger.”
“That is because you are older, little one,” answered he.
“Not because you are?”
“I am not. But every year you grow, you will find me bigger.”

Confession, it’s my first time reading through the whole Narnia series. I enjoyed this story as they return to Narnia.

With this and TLTW&TW I think I’ve rated them 4 instead of 3 because I had the amazing visuals of the movies (especially for this book) in my mind as I was reading along.

What I don’t get is, for a book that’s supposedly Christian propaganda the Greek god Bacchus and his followers are mentioned side by side with Aslan (that supposedly represents Jesus)? And (as befitting as it is for Bacchus) instead of Aslan (Jesus) turning water to wine it’s Bacchus?

Can’t wait to read the others without the movies playing in my mind so that I can make a proper judgement lol

I remember loving the movie for this book so much more than I enjoyed reading it. But that's just me.

it is possible to take this as straight fantasy and ignore any parallel references to Christianity...but that's honestly a huge part of why these books are so good. For example, the lesson about trusting in God absolutely, and leaving family and friends to follow Him, even when those all around you can't see Him or any reason why you do what you do.
