Another "wow, that was better than I'd thought it'd be"
There was a few things that had me hooked on this this pretty fast,
One, it takes place in Minneapolis and Pine City where I and other family lives. It's always interesting what people write about the place you live in. I would say the author kept it vague enough that it could have been anywhere though.
Two, I like hockey, so it was interesting to have a hockey player as one of the main characters.
Three, the single mom troupe, done well it's sure thing for me. This one was done okay.
We were nearing the end of the book and she was still thinking "I can't get used to this, he could leave at any moment." Her ex was a lousy husband and father, but because she had daddy issues she took it so hard she can't trust the dude who just spent 2 days in the ER with her and one of her kids. So that got a little old.
So I've already commented on the female main Kacie Jensen, now Brody Murphy was just plain adorable. He was mature (didn't act like a spoiled man-child), honest (admitted he'd slept with other women), not a "rake" (slept with other women, but only a few here and there like a normal modern single guy who isn't in a committed relationship), loved his mom, but wasn't a mamma's boy, and was adorable, but not stupid-sappy with the kids.
The angst and drama was mostly within my comfortable bounds. Kacie's drama started to push those limits though with her previously mentioned issues.
The smexy times were cute, and not over the top.
Will defiantly be reading the next in the series sense this one had a huge cliff hanger.

I fell in love with this story instantly! Brody Murphy is awesome! Kacie Jensen was one of the best female characters, I've met so far. The two of them together were great and everything felt realistic. And the Twinkies? Outright adorable! How Brody and Diesel barreled into the Jensen's lives was heartwarming. The relationship between Kacie and Brody established in a wonderful and believable way. And the chemistry between those two was hot. I really loved this book! It is absolutely recommendable! Beth Ehemann did a great job.
So...I just kind of happened upon this book by chance. I saw that a blog had 5 star reviewed it and that it was a hockey romance (swoon). So, I purchased the ebook, only to discover that I would be meeting the author the following day at the Cleveland Author Event. At the event, I purchased a paperback copy to have signed and added to my collection. I'm so thankful that I did!
I absolutely LOVE this story. I couldn't put it down! I started it in the evening and stayed up half of the night until I finished it. It was just different in a really good way. It was refreshing! I must say, I was very happy that I had the second book available to jump right into after finishing the first. I may have been a little upset if I would have had to wait.
This was definitely a "feel good" book. I absolutely loved that Kacie was a single mother to twin girls. It made her more relatable to me because she has kids, which many people don't in a lot of the books that I read. It gave a realness to the story. Brody was so sweet with the girls...heart meltingly sweet.
I'm not going to go on and on, but this is a MUST READ! I absolutely cannot wait to dive into Room For More! Job well done, Beth Ehemann! You've made me a fan!

ON REREAD: 3.5 stars -- I just had a much harder time becoming captured by the characters and the story...they felt more flat for me. I have no idea why.
ORIGINAL REVIEW: 4.5 stars -- Actually a really cute love story. Brody was ridiculously adorable, and the chemistry between him and Kacie was off the charts. Strangely enough, I probably would have enjoyed it more if it had been a stand alone, b/c I loved the way it ended before the epilogue. I knew it was a series, but I guess I thought subsequent books would be about different couples, not a continuation of the story....so I have to debate with myself if I want to read more. It's not that I didn't love the characters, but I just wanted the HEA so badly that I'm not sure I can handle new conflict...:)
