I found the writing a bit slow at first, but the last half peaked my interest.
4⭐️ Sometimes “cold case” style stories can feel super slow but the pacing on this felt really snappy and interesting. I think it was partially helped by the multi-POVs and I appreciated being able to learn about the case from all the different angles as all the secrets were uncovered. Definitely feels like it’s a setup of a series so hopefully there’s more out of this detective line!

Suspenseful from start to finish! You get sucked in and can't put it down. There are so many twists and turns but you never see the ending coming. Loreth Ann White is a master of misdirection!

*audiobook*
Was a decent audiobook and a good few little twists throughout. I feel like there’s a few too many characters in this story. But otherwise, good as always from White.

I loved this book. The pacing was steady and didn’t save everything until the end and covered so many aspects of criminal investigations that are rarely included in thrillers. Loved the perspective of the media/reporters, the medical examiner and her students, the families, etc. So many good things to say. I think there were some plot holes and things left unexplained, but who cares, you don’t get everything explained in life either.
