Very good storytelling with some wows right to the end. The development of the main character was a nice surprise in this novel.
3/5 - Maybe I had high expectations, but I liked this. It was super slow and the twists were good, but nothing crazy. I wasn’t a fan of the twist. It felt out of left field.

After far too many years, I finally read my first book by Loreth Anne White!
i generally enjoy this type of book - the secret from the past that is going to be exposed. However this book was not attention gripping by any means. So many characters that you never get to know or understand so they come off as self-serving narcissists, not a sympathetic one in the group. I felt there was no real closure on most of the characters. Yes we found out who killed the girl but were there any repercussions for all the lies told?
I feel like there was a lot left unfinished but I didn’t see some of the twists coming and that was cool

A lot of medical jargon.
Jane, a grief stricken and pregnant detective, is given an assignment that links back to a cold case from over 40 years ago involving not one but two missing high school students. There are a lot of characters involved here and it can be confusing to keep track of them all, but each person really adds a little more depth to the story. I'm one who can usually see things coming but multiple times was completely surprised with the twists and turns this book offered. While the last few chapters were a bit difficult to stomach (there should definitely be a trigger warning) overall the story was engaging and I sped right through it.
